This directory contains programs described in:

Kress VC, Ghiorso MS, Lastuka C (2004) Microsoft EXCEL spreadsheet-based program for calculating equilibrium gas speciation in the C-O-H-S-Cl-F system. Computers & Geosciences, 30:211-214.

Nov. 6, 2007 - With many versions of EXCEL available, and increasing divergence between Windows and Mac implementations of EXCEL, we have officially abandoned support for EXCEL plugins. The functionality of these applications will soon be offered in an on-line Java applet. Keep checking this page. For now, please consider using the text-based applications below. All applications will use the same core computation engine, so please reference Kress et al. (2004) for all programs on this page.

Text-based applications:

Two versions are available. One calculates equilibrium in the C-O-H-S system and the other calculates equilibrium in the C-O-H-S-Cl-F system. The C-O-H-S-Cl-F program is somewhat more sophisticated than the C-O-H-S program, offering filtering of trivial species. Data input is less tedious in the COHSmix program if Cl and F are not required. The Macintosh version is compiled for an Intel processor. If there is interest, I will compile a version for PPC.
